Beds at Y2Y

Y2Y is a student-run shelter in Harvard Square for young adults experiencing homelessness. We are a low-threshold program that provides sanctuary and helps young people achieve their goals at their own pace.

30-night beds

Instructions

To enter the lottery for a 30-day bed, call Y2Y at 617-864-0795 between 8:00-8:45 a.m. You will be asked for your name and birthday, to ensure eligibility, and given a lottery number. 

To find out if you have a bed, call back after 8:50 a.m. or come to the entrance of the shelter, where we will post the winning lottery number(s) each morning.

Y2Y does not give away any beds at the door.

1-night bed

Instructions

To enter the lottery for a 1-night bed, call Y2Y at 617-864-0795 between 9:00-9:30 p.m. You will be asked for your name and birthday, to ensure eligibility, and given a lottery number. 

To find out if you have a bed, call back after 9:35 p.m. or come to the door, where winning numbers are posted each night. You must arrive at the shelter by 10:15 p.m. to claim your bed.

Y2Y does not give away any beds at the door. 

Y2Y RULES

  • Beds are distributed daily through a lottery
  • Doors open at 7 p.m. 30-day guests must be in the space by 9 p.m. or call Y2Y to let us know they will be late (in by 10:15 p.m.) or taking a “night out”
  • No drugs or alcohol in the space
  • We conduct a security check at the shelter door; no weapons are allowed in the space
  • Proof of age is required, we will help you if you do not have it
